Dreamweaver Stencils - Showers to Showers - Week 5

4/27/2015

It's the Dream Teams's last theme for the month of April with our interpretation of "Showers to Showers."  It is also our last post together under the direction of Dreamweaver's founder, Lynell Harlow. I'm personally shedding bittersweet tears as we close one door and open a new one with Stampendous. Lynell has been an enormous inspiration to me over the past 3 years and it has been my privilege to learn the art of stenciling through her.  She's a delightful person and I sure hope we continue to see her and Wayne in the industry.  Their Zendays Wednesdays blog posts are delightful.  Good luck Lynell and I'm so happy Dreamweaver has found a new home with Stampendous!

As usual, we'd love for you to play along. Just link your creation on the Dream It Up! blog for a chance to win the stencil of your choice...bonus chances for incorporating Dreamweaver and/or Stampendous in your design.

Here's my interpretation of April's theme that's all about wedding showers:
Picture
I made a paper doll with the Bride Stencil (LJ924)!  She was pasted with Glossy White (DGWP) and allowed to dry. I chose Glossy White in hopes of creating a satin fabric feel to her dress.  Once dry, I laid the Lace Stencil (LJ820) over the pasted image and added color to the skirt with my Artist's Paintstik (R260 Pink), and a 3/8" (NHB3/8) stencil brush.  The lace image is barely visible, but it does add a lovely muted pattern in person.  Next, I laid the Floral With Dots (LJ927) stencil over the skirt and proceeded to add color with the same stencil brush and Paintstik.

Moving on to the dress bodice, the same Paintstik color was applied but I moved down to a 1/4" stencil brush (GHB).  The skin and hair were also colored with Paintstiks using the smallest 1/8" stencil brush (BHB).  I did use my most wonderful Picasso Tool (LL332) to get into intricate areas without coloring in unwanted areas.

Once the coloring was completed, I cut out the image.  I cut away the stenciled veil knowing I wanted to add a tulle veil instead.  I even took an X-acto blade and cut out the arm openings at the elbows!  From my stash, I created her floral bouquet from my stash of Maya Road flowers.  I hot glued them to a gathered circle of tulle.  Her veil was a small length of tulle folded in half and hot glued to the back of her head.

Finally, I wanted to repeat the stencil design on her skirt to the dry embossed background.  The stenciled word 'love' (Live, Laugh, Love LL403) fit beautifully in the little open space.  That, too, was stenciled with the Paintstik pink color and a 1/8" stencil brush.  The added small pearls are from my A Muse Studio stash.  The card is mounted on Core'dinations paper.

I'd love you to make a comment before moving on to the next designers's post!

What a great idea for this stencil...it would be great to make her different outfits too. See....I am so inspired by what you ladies share each week that I get all kinds of ideas to carry me on and on to a different level of creativity. No idea is immaculately conceived....thanks for all of your sharing, Lyn. Bless you!
