The Card Concept #70 - Purple Haze

I'm pleased to announce that I was given an Honorable Mention for Card Concept #69 - Rich Texture!

The next challenge is all purple-y, which is a favorite color of mine to work with.

This card was made using a Dreamweaver stencil and water coloring through the stencil while holding it down on the paper. Outlining in black helped better define the image. About a year ago, I made a YouTube video on fluid watercolor and at the end of it, I show how this technique works. Click on the photo for the link.

This week's Card Concept challenge is based on the above photo. I loved the distress of the chair the most. I also love where an inspiration photo takes me to the finished card design!

I found a scrap piece of background paper leftover from my Stampendous/Dreamweaver design team days and decided that could work for a worn out looking background. Embossing folder (Cuttlebug). Diecut leaves and sentiment (Fun Stampers Journey). Flowers and lace (my stash). Burgundy paper and pearls (A Muse).

Love these challenges!!!!

I jumped on the next Card Concept Challenge #68 because my first thought was spring!

Here's the card style I chose:

1. Clean and Simple (CAS)

Definition:

One main image
Lots of open space (uncluttered)
Limited layers & embellishments
Quick & easy to recreate

Typically, I don't lean toward CAS but this Fun Stampers Journey (Lovely Day) set screamed CAS. The image was stamped on Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper using the Mini Misti and Versafine Onyx Black ink. Flowers were colored with Distress Crayons and a water brush. Sentiment was inked with Catherine Pooler's Aquatini. Splatters (Fun Stampers Journey Turbo Teal Silks). Perforated rectangle (Fun Stampers Journey). Embossing folder (Sizzix). Thread (my stash).
