I'm posting a second 12x12 "Garage Art" painting I made for my son, his girlfriend and their dog, Wyatt.  They loved it so much, they moved it from the front enclosed porch to the living room!

Here's a photo of Wyatt that I worked from:

Now all we need around here in Upstate New York is to experience the actual season of spring!!!  I might be asking too much...

Thanks for stopping by!

Since I wasn't using a visual reference, I found I enjoyed the process of flying blind that this painting is a result of.  This piece is 12x18 140 lb. Canson watercolor paper.  Working larger than an A2 size card (which is where my background originates), really alters the scale of objects.  I had intended on painting 3 large flowers and quickly realized I needed to add a lot more to fill the space!  As I generally put myself through agony trying to decide whether to outline or not, I ultimately went with painting the black outline.  The movement of the background wash is quite a contrast to the bold statement of the flowers, as if they're floating on water!

Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by!

Here's my submission to this week's PPF.  I call it garage art 'cuz I hang a seasonal piece near the entrance into my kitchen.  Right now I have a snowman piece but it's still winter here and I won't hang happy spring 'til the darn snow is gone!

This is painted on 12x12 gesso board purchased at Hobby Lobby.  It was a beautiful surface to work on.  The dimensionals were from my stash.  Diecut words are mounted on craft foam to create more depth.  Happy (SU I think), Spring (A Muse Studio).  Diecut butterflies (A Muse Studio).

Thanks for stopping by!

Paint Party Friday #53

Oops, guess I skipped a couple of weeks of partying!  However, I've been painting and loving whatever it is I'm working on at the moment.  Here's a little something I sketched from a photo while in Florida recently.  The flowers are called Brugmansia Pink Angels Trumpet.  They are huge flowers too!

I used Koi watercolors and Master's Touch 6x8 watercolor paper.

Here's the photo I used for my little painting.

Hoping to get in some painting time this afternoon!

Thanks for stopping by!
