Creations by AR - Stars and Stripes Blog Hop!

The AR Girls are at it again for our STARS and STRIPES BLOG HOP!
We'll inspire you with our Patriotic themes (as well as other template themes).  One new release template is the Bordered Box Set that is a snap to work with!  Here I used Authentique Glory papers both 12x12 and 6x6 paper pad.  The large star diecuts and banner are from Amuse Studios.  The sentiment is an old favorite from Stampin' Up.
Here's a photo of the empty box:

The stars along the border are all popped up to add dimension and interest.  The flag is free clipart that is affixed to a corsage pin.  To create the box base, I covered a 3x3 chipboard piece and died some dice with Copics for feet!
Here's a view of the items stuffed inside the box:
All five items are mounted on a fruit skewer colored with Copics.  Flat marbles are inside the box to give it weight and hold the skewers in place.  Click on pinwheels and fringe to see how they can be easily replicated.

The next new release is the Gourmet Take Out template and boy did I have fun with this!  I was so excited about the Gourmet Take Out box I had to create both the short and tall templates.  For the short template, I used Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two papers and they just screamed cottage chic to me.  My design is a table-scape piece for display purposes and doesn't open.  The sentiments are from Memory Box.

Here's what the back side looks like:
For the flowers, I hand cut a spiral shape and rolled them up!  There is one diecut flower from Memory Box visible on the left corner of the Life is Good side.  The leaves were easily created by folding a scrap piece in half and cutting a leaf shape without cutting through the fold.  The leaf then becomes a good base to hot glue the spiral flowers to.  Of course I had to add little feet by Copic coloring wood beads!

Here's an aerial view of the top.  Strips of burlap were looped and hot glued first prior to placing the flowers.  A 1/2" strip was spiraled and then coiled around the handle for added interest.

My second Gourmet Take Out used the tall template and Basic Grey Konnichiwa papers that were perfect for giving the take out an oriental theme.
This box actually does open as the fan is only on one side and is hot glued to the flap rather than the handle.
Here's an aerial view to see the accordion strip that goes all around the top edge.  I placed Scor Tape along the top edge and then affixed the accordion strip.  Scor Tape holds the lace in place as well.  Most everything else was affixed with hot glue.  Butterfly (EK), leaves (Sizzix)

Here's how to win one of the new release templates:
Leave a comment at each designers blog and you'll automatically be entered in the drawing.
On Saturday, June 23, re-visit each blog to see who each designer has chosen as their random winner. The winner will have a choice of ONE of the new templates.

So, off you go to the next designer and happy hopping!

Happy Flag Day Crop!

I guest hosted this week's Kathy & Friends Crop at Stampin' & Scrappin' Time and I created a patriotic themed layout.  As most of you know, I avoid 12x12 layouts as much as possible because I like smaller mini-sized areas to work in.  However, the more I play with this size, the less agonizing it is becoming to put together (although it did take me a large part of a day to finalize!).
Here's a closeup of the focal cluster in the upper left corner.  It all layered and popped up with foam tape.  A donkey is was also provided in the kit depending upon your party preference!  The flag is made with a fruit skewer and I showed  how to make it during crop.  The free vintage clipart was found by Googling free vintage patriotic clipart.  Several sites came up and I worked off a couple of them.  Unfortunately, I didn't note where I found them.  More kits will be available for sale at the Shoppe or just contact me.

3d168 - Tuxedo Card!

I'm pleased to host this week's 3d Challenge on Paper Craft Planet!  My version of this quick and easy tuxedo card is just in time for Father's Day, weddings or formal occasions!  Complete instructions are attached in a PDF file.  Basically, the collar and shirt front are affixed behind the black tuxedo 'jacket'  and then both are mounted to the front of a white card base.  My favorite part is the ribbon tie and ascot that can be changed depending on the color scheme.  Real buttons and a flat pearl are added embellishments.  The sentiment is from Memory Box.

If you'd like to play along, just upload your photo HERE and be sure to add the tag 3d168 so I can add it to our album.  I'd love to see your version of a tuxedo card!

Ranger Roundup Technique Card

Ranger Roundup is Saturday, June 16th at 10 am and I'm getting very excited about how the class is coming together!  Details of what materials to bring with you can be found HERE.  Most important items are a craft sheet and a mister.  I'll have everything else available.  Wear old clothes or bring an apron!
The above card is an example of what else you can do with some of the techniques we'll be learning.  Here I've incorporated Dylusions Ink Sprays, Picket Fence Stain and Perfect Misting through a Crafter's Workshop template!  The dies, banner and sentiment are from Amuse.  Call the Shoppe to register $25 (315) 633-5325!

News From Paper Craft Planet!

After taking a small break from moderating my three groups, I feel renewed and refreshed to begin presenting new challenges, lessons and techniques. Here’s the lineup of what is up ahead during the month of June at All Things Vintage, CAS Card Group and Anything But Cute:

All Things Vintage
Lilian, Karen and I are all in an Asian/oriental themed mood and I found some lovely free vintage oriental clipart. I have also attached 3 images that I particularly liked from the e-vint image site. The site has been added to our Reading Library for future reference and can be found HERE.
Oriental Vintage (Click on Link)
Oriental with Deer (Click on Link)
Oriental Lady by Tree (Click on Link)

Here’s the challenge: Using either the oriental clipart or something of your own, create a card using just 4 items. The items to include on your card are: ribbon, gems (or pearls), lace and a 4th item of your choice. Upload your card using the tag ATVJUNE12 (all caps) and comment that your card is ready for the group album and slideshow. At the end of June, I will pick a random winner to receive a vintage themed prize from my extensive stash of stuff! Please limit your entries to no more than 3. The random winner's name will be posted on July 1st at 8:00 a.m. EST.
CAS Card Group
Our weekly lessons will continue every Thursday (with the exception of today). I will strive to show you something that is unique and different, but that will only depend on what is in front of me to work with at that time. I’d love to have a monthly group slideshow and post your samples to it! At the end of the month, I’ll pick a random card and award a little prize from my stash. Tag your card CASJUNE12 (all caps) and post a comment that it is uploaded.
This week's lesson uses white cardstock only. I layered another white panel 1/4 inch smaller than the card base. There are just 3 items on the card front: a corrugated strip that is border punched, an owl image and a sentiment. Pretty clean and simple huh?

Anything But Cute
I miss our themed challenges and have presented new ideas to work with during the month of June. Theme categories are as follows:
6/3 Masculine in celebration of Father’s Day or Birthday
6/10 Wedding or White on White
6/17 It’s good to be Queen Birthday (Make it red! Queen's flag color is red and is celebrated 2nd Sat. in June)
6/24 Summer Solstice (6/21) (The longest day of the year) - Make it yellow!
Create a card using all 4 themes OR create 2 out of 4 cards if your time is tight. Those who create all 4 themes will be eligible to be randomly chosen for a really cool prize from my stash. Use the tag ABCJUNE12 (all caps) when uploading and be sure to post a comment for me so I can update the slideshow.
Here's my Masculine card. You don't have to stay in order of the weekly themes when creating your card. I had a belated birthday card due to my nephew so this card is serving a functional purpose!
